WHO WE ARE
Compost Culture is grant recipient from a 501(c)(3) non-profit
organization (The Dragon Kim Foundation) and an organization dedicated to composting for the environment. Our goal is to create and cultivate a culture of sustainability. We are starting up a curbside organics pickup service as well as a Farmer's Market Outreach and education program.
We are currently working with the Dragon Kim Foundation, a wonderful non-profit that provides high schoolers with grants to create community service projects.
We are in partnership with Huntington Gardens.
Bringing Change to the San Gabriel Valley
Workshop: The Elements of Great Compost
Compost Culture is offering many sustainable services to benefit the lives of citizens of South Pasadena and San Marino. Learn more about what we do, who we help, and how we work every day to promote positive change.
*Disclaimer: These services are only available for residents of South Pasadena and San Marino, California
CURBSIDE ORGANIC WASTE PICKUP SERVICE
Limited to South Pasadena and San Marino residents
Our Curbside Organic Waste Pickup Service will pick up your compostable food scraps on a weekly basis—right from your home. We provide you with a free kitchen bin for easy collection; you’ll simply leave the bin at a designated spot in your front yard on your assigned pick up day.
Helping The Community
With this initiative, our goal is to create educational opportunities for the citizens of South Pasadena. With the right resources and knowledge, we can shift the habits of our community to environmentally friendly ones. We will be setting up workshops and creating videos to teach you how to compost and help the environment.
We are now expanding into apartment complexes in South Pasadena. We will be providing bins and the curbside pickup service to these complexes. If you're interested in your apartment complex joining the Compost Culture train, please contact the email below for more information!
The Farmer's Market
Reinforcing our Commitment
We are currently at the South Pasadena Farmer's Market, where we collect food scraps for nonresidents and give away free compost on the first Thursday of every month. You can find us in the Free Speech Zone by the Walking Man statue. Feel free to come and chat with us or our lovely volunteers to learn more about what we do and how you can get involved.
HIGHLY SUGGESTED DONATIONS
We highly recommend a donation to our GiveLively page with a subscription to our Curbside Organic Waste Pickup service. We recommend a benchmark donation of $15/month to keep our services running, so that we can continue providing residents with additional waste disposal options. We are always greatly appreciative of all donations!
If you are feeling especially generous, please consider donating more than $15 to help cover the cost of those who cannot donate!
